For this cute and fun game, let’s start off with the basis. Kohinata Natsuko, your outgoing character, and Haruko, her shy sister, are new 2nd year transfers at Tokiwa High. Between these two sisters, they both take turns romancing six guys each. As Natsuko, you are the one who gets along with all of your classmates and are generally a friendly person. All students are required to pick either a sports or cultural club to be a part of. Since you generally don’t do artsy things, you narrow down your options to either being a member of the field and track club, or a manager of an all-boys basketball club. Don t let the pigeon drive the bus download. If you choose the track and field club, you get Tokitou, Kiryuu, or Ninomae as your potential partners. On the other hand, if you choose the basketball club, you get Kumashiro, Tachibana, or Sasagi. While I can’t spoil what happens later, let’s just say you might be able to find yourself with more men from the brass band or the drama club to choose from if you’re assertive enough, so do your best! Whether you choose the first option or the next, you are guaranteed to find a partner that suits you the most. Who knows- maybe you’ll find even three!

Don’t be deceived by these overly good-looking men. While they may look friendly, they are either members of the Shinsengumi, or are the enemy. Hakuoki is a game that takes place in the history of Japan during the Bakumatsu where there is civil unrest between the Emperor and the Shogun. You play as Chizuru, a young girl who has disguised herself as a man in order to search for her missing father in Kyoto. During your travels late one night, you accidentally get entangled with the Shinsengumi during one of their chases. After a quick altercation, you find yourself swooped into the world of masculine men who willingly protect your identity as a woman. Oh, and let’s not forget the man-made, bloody-thirsty, demon hybrid samurais who continuously search out for the blood of their enemy every time they morph into super-human beings. The more you interact with these men, the more you begin to realize how entrenched in their mystery you are, until there’s no way out. Even with the dire situations you are placed in as war rages on around you, you just can’t help falling for these guys who literally put their lives on the line for you. Truly bittersweet love at its finest.

Nameless ~The One You Must Recall
Be still my beating heart. While this game may not be the best one for a beginner, it still made it on the list for its powerful storyline and tear-jerking characters. Unlike the other games, this one originates from a Korean company by the name of Cheritz. It is beautifully designed and is a complete visual novel with almost complete pain-stricken endings. In this game you play as a woman who recently lost her grandfather, who was your only known family member. You took to collecting ball-joint dolls as a child so these were all you had left in the world. One night, the dolls come to life as a group of hot human men. You react like anyone else would and panic. After a few spoken words between you and these men, you somehow come to accept the ridiculous, and unbelievable, truth that has occurred before you. The story only continues to get better from there with its unique charm and realistic responses. If you like Korean dramas, then you’ll definitely love this one. Just remember- for this game, you may need 911 on stand-by.

Now I know what you’re thinking. Why are there pigeons in the image? Well, that’s because in this particular game, you are dating pigeons. I’m not kidding. In this game, you play as a female character who is the sole human student at St. Pigeonation Institute. You start going through the game by repeating each school year in order to pursue the next pigeon of your choice. After a few rounds of this, it becomes apparent that something about the world around you is a bit off—aside from the fact that you’re dating pigeons as potential partners.
